Several Tesla owners were reportedly unable to unlock and start their cars due to an outage in the company app. As per the reports, drivers received an error message on their smartphone app that prevented them from connecting to their vehicles.
Around 500 Tesla users from across the globe reported the problem on the app, with over 60 complaints being registered about five hours later. Owners took to social media to vent out their frustrations as they were unable to utilize their cars due to the Tesla app outage.
Even Tesla CEO Elon Musk replied to one of the driver’s Twitter complaints in South Korea and later stated that the app would be relaunched. Musk has also apologized and guaranteed to take precautions to make sure the issue does not re-occur in the future.
It is worth noting here that the Tesla app is not the only way to access to the automobile. While technology tends to make things easier, the outage is a downside of being dependent on the server that should always be available 24/7.
One of the Tesla owners who was affected by the outage stated that the company is a victim of its success as it entices the customers to purchase its cutting-edge technology which might go awry at times.
Although the car key can also be used to unlock Tesla vehicles, the natural impulse of many Tesla users who are purchasing one of the most advanced models in the market is to count on the technology.
Meanwhile, some experts have claimed that this could be a wake-up call for the automotive industry that is slowly transitioning into autonomous vehicles.
