Norwegian Cruise Line now requires Floridians to give vaccination proof

By Nikita Chaurasia

Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd. has recently announced that it received a favorable ruling from Judge Williams, granting a preliminary injunction for the company to require proof of its guests’ vaccination status before boarding, including Florida.

The company, which runs Regent Seven Seas Cruises, Oceania Cruises, and the Norwegian Cruise Line brands, will now be able to function while ensuring optimum safety with 100% vaccination of all guests and staff while sailing from Florida ports.

Prior to this, Norwegian Cruise Line had been requiring crew and guests to be fully vaccinated in every port it sails from across the world except Florida, as the state had forbidden the company from asking for proof of vaccination.

Chief Executive Officer and President of Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd., Frank Del Rio, was quoted saying that the company puts a heavy priority on the safety and health of its crew, guests as well as the communities that are visited.

The CEO further stated that the company will benefit hugely from the court ruling as the step is deemed to be the safest and most prudent method to recommence cruise operations amidst the global pandemic.

Executive Vice President of Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd., Daniel S. Farkas stated that although litigation is considered as a tool of last resort, the company has strived to keep the best interest of all stakeholders in mind, to substantially minimize the risk of further spread of the COVID-19 virus as it relaunches its vessels.

In this context, Norwegian Cruise Line has invested heavily in its extensive, multi-layered SailSAFE health and safety initiative with protocols developed in accordance with the country’s top public health experts.

The cruise company has scheduled its first sailing from Florida on 15th August 2021 on Norwegian Gem departing from Miami.
