London’s gearing up to deliver Covid-19 vaccine as early as next week

The George Eliot Hospital NHS Trust, Warwickshire, is likely to receive the first batches of AstraZeneca’s and Oxford’s coronavirus vaccine on 2^nd November.

The revelation comes along the heels of directive to George Eliot Hospital NHS Trust stating to make preparations for a Covid-19 staff vaccine programme starting early of December, cite credible sources.

Apparently, the vaccine is still undergoing trials but a green light has been passed to accelerate its delivery through the world-leading hospital if everything goes according to plan.

Sources familiar with the matter state that other clinical trials at the major hospital trust have been put on hold to direct all resources towards preparing the vaccination for hundreds and thousands of doctors, nurses, and other healthcare personnel at the frontline of this battle.

Additional security measures are being proposed to in view of the anti-vaccine protest and protection of valuable stock as the hospital will be one of the very first ones to begin the vaccination. The organization is liaising with the police as well as the Army, stated a Whitehall associated.   

Dr. Anthony Fauci, a White House top medic, on that matter, voiced that the efficacy of vaccine will be known by the end of November or early of December this year.

In another major development, Imperial College London together with a group of researchers, on Tuesday, announced that they are preparing to infect 90 young and healthy volunteers with the coronavirus to speed up the development a potential Covid-19 vaccine. However, the human challenge trials aren’t likely to replace Phase 3 Trials.

On the other hand, the vaccine developed by AstraZeneca and Oxford University, one of the 10 worldwide in the most advanced Phase 3 trials, has shown promising responses in both the elderly and younger participants.

Likewise, the accelerated approach to vaccine research and development across other parts of the globe may give rise to several vaccines and finally end the pandemic the following year.
