ABLIC unveils new series of automotive single-chip power supply ICs

ABLIC Inc., a Japanese semiconductor manufacturing company, has recently introduced a new series of automotive low dropout voltage regulators enabled with voltage monitoring feature. Reportedly, the S-19310/S-19315/S-19316 series is a single-chip automotive power supply ICs.

Apparently, these newly launched power supply ICs can deliver the lowest self-current consumption in the market and fulfill the conditions for ultra-low standby current. They could fit well with powering timer ICs that work on low current.

Generally, the output voltage of conventional general-purpose low dropout (LDO) voltage regulator rises at light load and high temperatures, which could be detrimental for connected devices. These new ICs combine functionality for controlling influx in output voltage at extreme temperatures to safeguard both safety and low current of timer ICs that function in light load.

Elaborating on its functions, the S-19315 observes the voltage of gadgets linked to the SENSE pin, the S-19316 oversees the built-in LDO voltage regulator’s input voltage. Meanwhile, the S-19310 monitors built-in LDO voltage regulator’s output voltage.

Since the release voltage and the detection voltage can be regulated autonomously within a definite range, optimum voltage monitoring could be adjusted according to each system’s requirement, claim reports.

In 2019, ABLIC had reportedly made headlines when Seiko Instruments Inc., Development Bank of Japan, and MinebeaMitsumi Inc. had finalized a share transfer deal in line to share acquisition of ABLIC.

With this move, ABLIC was claimed to play a crucial part in enhancing MinebeaMitsumi’s business as its fully owned subsidiary. Subsequently, both MinebeaMitsumi and ABLIC possess respective product portfolios that are well complemented to each other, and this venture would allow it to attain numerous synergistic effects.

As far as research and development is concerned, the deal would allow ABLIC to manufacture and develop products with even superior quality and higher performance by incorporating both firm’s advanced technologies.
